How do I add an image to my gallery?
Add images to your gallery by mailing in your film photos or by uploading digital photos to the Art Moments web site.

To upload a digital photo, choose the "my gallery" link from the menu, then click the “Browse…” button (see sample below).

You will see a file dialog box that looks similar to the one below (depending on your operating system). Find and select the image file on your computer that you’d like to upload.

Note: Be sure that “Files of type: All Files” is selected so you can see all your image files. You can also change your file dialog to show thumbnail views of your images. On Windows operating systems, do this by choosing “Thumbnails” from the View Menu in the upper right hand corner of the file dialog box.

Once you’ve selected a photo, click the “Add image” button on your gallery page to add the selected image to your gallery. You will see a message indicating that the image is being transferred to your gallery. Do not close or change the browser window. Doing so may cause the image transfer to fail. You may open new browser windows while the transfer occurs.

When the transfer is complete, your gallery page will refresh and show you a thumbnail of your image. Always keep your own copy of your digital images. Your Art Moments gallery is not intended for long term image storage.

How long will it take to upload an image to my gallery?
It depends on the size of the picture file and the speed of your Internet connection. Approximate transfer times for a 400 kilobyte image file are listed below:
56k modem: 4-6 minutes
Cable modem/DSL/ISDN: One minute
T1: 20 seconds

Why do I receive a server error page when I try to add large images to my gallery?
Art Moments currently only accepts images up to a maximum size of 6 megabytes. Attempts to transfer files larger than 6 megabytes will cause an error. If your image is larger than this, please save your file as a compressed TIFF. This will result in no loss of image quality (as opposed to JPEG compression). If, after compression, your file is still larger than 6 megabytes, please contact info@artmoments.com for further instructions on transferring your image.

What is image resolution?
An image’s resolution is the total number of pixels in that image's file. Image resolution is usually expressed as #of pixels wide by #of pixels high.

Digital images are composed of little squares called pixels. Each pixel is the same size and shape, and is a single color. When the pixels are viewed together, they are perceived as a recognizable image. Since pixels viewed together make an image, the more pixels you have in your image, the more detail, or resolution, you will see. If you've ever viewed a digital image where you can see little squares in the image, or edges appear jagged, then you have seen an image with low resolution.
High resolution images appear crisp. Low resolution images appear jagged.

What resolution do my digital photos need to be for printing?
Art Moments recommends that you set your digital camera to the highest possible resolution setting. This ensures that your images can be printed at larger sizes with the most detail. Below are recommended minimum image resolutions for the print sizes we offer.
